Go to Castle Ashby Gardens

Being a visitor from Cheshire, I made a special trip to Castle Ashby to enjoy the facilities. I was accompanied by my wife, eldest son (who was celebrating his birthday) and our two grownup grandchildren, who live in Northampton. We decided on a snack in the walled garden tea room and ordered drinks, several bowls of 'triple fried chips" and a pate ploughmans, with baguette.
The baguette turned out to be a small bread roll which was soft and tough, impossible to cut open, totally inadequate for eating with the pate. The pate itself was fine.
The chips, priced at £2.65 a portion (we had four!), were abyssmal. Despite the triple fried claim, they were pallid and insipid, giving every indication of being frozen supermarket fries cooked once (or three 10 second bursts!).
We complained about the quality of the food and were assured that the 'baguette' was part baked, cooked in their oven, no comment on the chips.
At £2.65 per portion for the chips and £4.50 for the ploughmans we felt aggrieved.

Never again will my family dine at this tea room.

My family and I recently visited Castle Ashby Gardens and found the gardens pleasantly set out and an interesting walk. It is a pity that a guide to the gardens is not available to enable visitors to plan their route.

The notice boards in situ are poorly presented with broken glass and in need of a lick of paint.
