The Brenthurst estate was started in 1906 and has been owned by the Oppenheimer family since 1922. Little Brenthurst was designed by Herbert Baker design in Cape Dutch style. The gardens are very well tended and have a sculpture collection (including Pierre-Auguste Renoir's Venus Victorieuse). Joane Pim was one of South Africa's pioneer gardeners. There is a rose garden, a children's garden, an indiginous grass garden, a Japanese garden.
