An early eighteenth century house and garden, best seen as an example of the French style of garden design, largely designed by the 1st and 2nd Lords Bingley. The garden is set within a retaining wall with bastions, as were Chantilly and Stowe. The enclosed land was a forest with a Broad Walk, a T-shaped canal, a parterre and radiating avenues. The 2nd Lord Bingley added temples, ponds and cascades. The parterre is now a fine rose garden.
