Gardenvisit Editorial

A French chateau with a French garden, set in the Yorkshire dales. The chateau was designed for John Bowes and is used as an art gallery. The garden lacks the exuberance of the chateau. The fountains in the parterre garden have recently been restored. The surrounding grounds have a fine collection of mature trees and are maintained as a public park. A series of outdoor events takes place during the year, including a garden, plants and produce show, a brass band contest, food and craft festival, open-air theatre, lantern parade and Victorian Christmas Market.
