Go to Birkenhead Park
Whenever I return to Birkenhead a visit to the park is a must. Everytime I go I see the park flourishing because of the care given to it by its wardens. Last time I visited the lake was being cleaned up. I just wish that the people of Birkenhead would appreciate the treasure that they have and not spoil it by littering and making a mess of it.
May I add that I have always found the guys who work around the park polite and ready to explain details about the park that I might ask about.
IS AUNTIDY PLACE
A beautiful urban park; complete with two large lakes, large open pastures and wooded areas dotted with exotic specimen trees (including cucumber tree, deodars, strawberry trees amongst others).
Birkenhead Park is the first park in the world to be funded by public subscription, designated a Grade 1 Listed Landscape and holder of the Green Flag Award. It has just undergone an £11 million restoration to conserve its landscape and historic structures to their original Victorian splendour.
Visitor facilities are now excellent, with a brand new Visitor Centre containing public toilets, coffee shop and art gallery.
The park is also well staffed by dedicated Ranger, Security and Ground Maintenance teams. The Ranger team run a full programme of events and walks for all age groups throughout the year and help to provide a welcoming environment for all visitors.
