Barcelona’s new Botanical Garden was opened in 1999 on an old solid landfill site on the hill of Montjuïc.It was designed by the landscape architect Bet Figueras, the horticulturalist Artur Bossy, the biologist Joan Pedrola and the architects Carlos Ferrater and Josep Lluís Canosa.  Plants are grouped according to five Mediterranean regions. Visited the Botanic Gardens in Barcelona today (21st August, 2011). Very disappointing. There were very few shrubs and it is more like an Arboretum. There wereno flowers at all and very little colour.

Compared to the Botanic Gardens in Madrid, it didn't rate in our books at all.
