Anglesey Abbey Garden

  3.0/5 (3 ratings)

Gardenvisit Editorial

A twentieth century garden made in the grounds of an Augustinian priory. Lanning Roper gave advice but the garden is best seen as a late example of the Mixed Style. It has a Monks Garden, a Temple Lawn, a Daffodil Walk, a herbaceous garden, an arboretum, a watermill and a very fine collection of garden sculpture. The planting design is not of the same standard.

scratches head at Claire's one star rating. To me this is a lovely garden. There are wild flowers, formal beds. This is a garden with all year appeal, in the heart of a freezing February you can turn up and enjoy over 200 varieties of Snowdrops and some lovely hellibores.

On a summers day you can sit and watch the world go by and listen to bees buzzing delightful

I don't agree with Brian 67. To me Anglesey Abbey Garden is a fairly dull and fairly 1970s flat place.

It still has the air of a relaxed country retreat for a group of medieval monks. Calming.
