Previous - Next

1583. The suburban house (fig. 271.) is a large commodious dwelling, in a village-like collection of houses, or streets, on the outskirts of the metropolis, or of large towns; and occupied as the constant residence of wealthy professional men or merchants. It has a carriage-entrance to the house and stables in front, and a small kitchen-garden behind.
