Location of new communities

Previous - Next

New communities need attractive locations

A settlement may be required in a place which is attractive for residential use or because it has speical job opportunities (eg a mining town). Economic trends may cause people to spend their working lives in or near a metropolis. But in vacation time they go elsewhere. Tourism continues to provide a resource-based reason for settlement location, in areas of high scenic and environmental quality. The demand is for 'villages' rather than 'towns'.
