Rocks and gushing streams

Previous - Next

In order to get the sound of a gushing stream, it should be narrowed at one point to a gorge by using rocks on either side and placing a rock in the middle just below to divide the stream, and a rock on either side further down to unite the divided water into one, again to be re-divided by another rock, etc. A whirlpool may be created by obstructing the flow with a big rock at the end of a pool in the stream and by placing another rock diagonally across at a proper distance to turn the course of water diverted thither by the side of the big rock. In shallow places stepping stones are often arranged artfully to afford a crossing.
