UNESCO accorded Greenwich the status of a World Heritage Site in 1997 and there has been a sharp increase in the number of tourists visiting Greenwich. The award of World Heritage status was surely merited - but not enough has been done to improve the landscape quality of the designated area. This section of the Gardenvisit website reviews what is good and less good about the landscape treatment of the Greenwich World Heritage site, poviding information, reviews and a visual commentary. No single organization owns the land, has the administrative power, or has a budget to plan and design the World Heritage site. But visitors, commentators and professionals can and should take an overview of the World Heritage Landscape. If we say what we think, it may influence policy making.
