The tomb garden was devised in Mughal India. Its origins are believed to be as follows (1) the Persians began making tomb pavilions. It is generally thought to be an adaptation of the Zoroastrian Fire Temple. There is no evidence at all as to whether or not they were placed in gardens. Tomb gardens, like the Taj, were places of pilgrimage, not places for pleasure parties.
