Photomontage

return to Student Design Guide index

The top image was produced by combing the three lower images using an image-editing programme (Adobe Photoshop). This type of work used to be done by cutting the top images and mounting them on the lower image (the word montage comes from the French verb monter = to mount). The modern way of performing this operation is with computer software and the industry standard programme is Adobe Photoshop. The woodland path becomes a the base layer, the pool is the middle layer and the statue is the top layer. Unwanted sections of the upper layers are clipped away.
