Loudon's biography is one of the most important sources of information about Humphry Repton's life and career. It was, as he informs us, written from a large collection of manuscripts in Repton's own hand. The papers were written for Repton's children. We do not know how Loudon obtained the papers, or what happened to them afterwards.
