The results were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Greenway&#8221;: <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.co.uk\/search?rlz=1C1GGLS_enGB302GB304&amp;aq=f&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;q=&quot;greenway\">5,470,000 returns<\/a> (on 24 Jan 2009)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Green Infrastructure&#8221;: <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.co.uk\/search?hl=en&amp;rlz=1C1GGLS_enGB302GB304&amp;q=&quot;green+infrastructure&amp;btnG=Search&amp;meta=\">244,000 returns<\/a> \u00a0(on 24 Jan 2009)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This inclines me to the view that, at present, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gardenvisit.com\/history_theory\/library_online_ebooks\/architecture_city_as_landscape\/greenway_design_planning\">Greenway Concept<\/a> has more public visibility. There are three problems with the Green Infrastructure Concept: (1) the literature is thin (2) it is unclear whether &#8220;green&#8221; means &#8220;vegetated&#8221; or whether it is used as in &#8220;green politics&#8221; (3) the term &#8220;infrastructure&#8221; is much better understood by the built environment professions than by the general public.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gardenvisit.com\/landscape_architecture\/london_landscape_architecture\/visitors_guide\/london_greenways_walks\"> London has many greenways<\/a>. \u00a0Some are excellent and others in urgent need of better landscape planning and design.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Noticing that the Landscape Institute (LI) has produced a draft policy statement on Green Infrastructure which does not contain the word Greenway, I did Google searches on the two terms.
