Surely the principle of combining philosophy with technology is correct. You see this in Steve Jobs' approach to design. Following Robert M. Pirsig's Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry into Values (1974) Steve Jobs might have written of 'Zen and the art of high technology consumer products'. See blog post on iGardens, iCities, iArchitecture, iLandscapes, iPads and the Steve Jobs design theory. The two post-Jobs product launches from Apple (the iPhone 4s and yesterday's 'new iPad') have disappointed critics because they are 'all technology' with 'no extra Zen'.

Construction for landscape architecture is not a good text. It spends more time being philosophical about the subject than giving hard facts. It's a page filler. Some good pictures/case studies though. Shame text can't match visual quality of the book.
