Tracing Copyright Owners
Every effort has been made to trace the copyright holders of old material. Where these efforts have not been successful, copyright owners are invited to contact the editor (Tom Turner) so that their copyright can be acknowledged and/or the material removed from the publication.
Creative Commons Content
We are most grateful to publishers of Creative Commons material, including images. Our policies concerning this material are (1) to credit the copyright owner, and provide a link where possible (2) to remove Creative Commons material, at once, if the copyright owner so requests - for example if the owner changes the licensing of an image.
We will also keep our interpretation of the Creative Commons Non-Commercial license under review. Along with, we believe, most web publishers, our current view is that acceptance of the 'Non-Commercial' condidtion means (1) we must not sell the image or any publication containing the image (2) we may however use an image as an illustration for some information (eg about the character of a garden) which is not being sold or offered for sale.
Note to other copyright owners
We are grateful to those copyright owners who have given permission for their material to be used. Some of the material in the GVTG and GHRE comes from secondary and tertiary sources. In every case we have tried to locate the original author or photographer and make the appropriate acknowledgement. In some cases the sources have proved obscure and we have been unable to track them down. In these cases, we would like to hear from the copyright owners and will be pleased to acknowledge them in future editions or remove the material.
