Description

We are an award winning, mail order and retail nursery which specialises in trees, shrubs, climbers and woody herbaceous plants including a large selection of very rare and unusual varieties!

Surrounding our nursery is our beautiful woodland garden, started in 1992 and now covering an area of nine acres. British native trees were first planted to provide much needed shelter on this site and into the wood this created were planted hundreds of choice, rare and unusual plants.

Although the trees in the gardens are still relatively young, many of the shrubs and smaller trees already show their full beauty of form and habit and the arboretum has become a beautiful woodland walk with rare plant treasures on display to entice the real enthusiast!

In May 2004, the arboretum was given the 'Greenwatch Award' by Derbyshire County Council for Environmental Sustainability and has also been featured on BBC Gardener's World in October 2007 for its eye-catching autumn colour!

There is a charge of £2.50 per person for entry to the arboretum and gardens. We are on the Royal Horticultural Society list of recommended gardens to visit and R.H.S. members are admitted free of charge.

With the exception of guide dogs, animals must be left secure in the owner's car, water bowls will be provided on request.

Lots of unusual trees to browse through on the nursery and a young yet lovely woodland garden to walk around.

Helpful, keen staff on the nursery and very good plant labelling in the gardens, including lots of information posters.

We had a little trouble finding the nursery, don't rely completely on a sat nav, get directions!
