The only significant landscape feature on Western Avenue was created by Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe who had the idea of using 20,000 tons of subsoil excavated from a tunnel to form two beautifully shaped hills which enhance the view of Park Royal Brewery (designed by G G Scott). The money saved by not having to take the subsoil 8kms. to a tip was donated by the contractor to pay for one issue of the Journal of the Institute of Landscape Architects.
