A space between the Hammersmith Flyover and St Paul's Church has been made into an urban green. It forms a pleasant green walk for a section of th route from Hammersmith Broadway to the River Thames - and many existing trees had to be removed to secure public surveillance of the walkers. In detail the design is calm and workmanlike. The problem is in finding the peacefulness one expects in a greenspace when so near to two major highways: the Hammersmith Flyover (A219) and Hammersmith Bridge Road (A306). One wonders what type of open space strategy the borough council had which called for a new green in such an un-prepossessing location.
