Newham Greenway

It may be a coincidence, but The Greenway in Newham was initiated shortly after a speech by Lord Strathclyde in which he poked fun at the London Borough of Newham for what was called the 'Northern Outfall Sewer Walk' on the plan accompanying the 1991 Green Strategy for London. The greenway is above a sewer. Design of the Greenway was by Land Use Consultants. It is a appropriate to its setting scheme but the greenway suffers poor landscape planning. A successful route needs to connect origins to destinations and to have features of interest along its course.
