Kensal Green Cemetery

All Souls Cemetery was laid out in 1831. H. E. Kendall won a competition for the layout and buildings in a romantic gothic style but the Company preferred the Greek revival style and the design was done by William Chadwick, a sometime colleague of Soane. The cemetery is now leafy and magnificent in its decay. Ageing avenues of chestnut, lime and poplar, handsome buildings, obelisks and urns contribute to the atmosphere. Only the area around the tombs of two of George III's children is properly maintained. Between Harrow Road and the Grand Union Canal near Kensal Green Station.
