Public access to Thames beaches and foreshore

London developed as a riverside city and Londoners have historic rights to use of the foreshore and beaches. But the authorities discourage access on the grounds that it is 'unsafe'. The water is cleaner than it has been for many centuries and, as argued in the below video, the Thames beaches are much safer those in the Seven Sisters Country Park and, indeed, most of the beaches round Britains' 11,073 miles of coast.
