Marriage In 1830 Loudon was invited to an At Home evening at which he could meet the author of The Mummy. It was in the house of a very famous landscape painter: John Martin. To Loudon’s amazement, the author was a young lady. He and Jane Webb were married in the autumn. She realised at once that her husband needed all the help she could give and their honeymoon was delayed until the following year.
