Kohan Kashane is a traditional Yazd ancestral mansion with an attractive small courtyard garden. There is a large iwan, a rectangular pool, flowerbeds and small trees, and typical traditional stucco decoration on the walls. From the garden, a stone staircase leads underground to a rest place cooled by a qanat (an ancient underground irrigation canal). The mansion is now run as a small hotel by its family owners who preserve its traditional features.
Address - Imam Khomeini St., Yazd, Iran

If you can find the Kohan Kashane on your meanderings through the Old City of Yazd, stop in for tea or a dish of their delicious rosewater ice cream. It's just the place to rest your feet and cool off. When you're refreshed, climb the steep stairs up to the roof for a terrific view of the Old City or climb the steep stairs down to the qanat--the underground water channel that brings water into the city from mountain streams. The Kohan Kashane is a wonderful opportunity to experience a traditional Persian house and garden.
