John Whipple House and Garden

The house was built in the 1650s and moved to its present site in the 1920s. Arthur Shurcliff was then asked to design a suitable garden, only part of which was implemented. Ann Leighton (author of books on The American Garden in the Eighteenth Century and in the Nineteenth Century) was asked to research and implement a historically-based planting design.
