Ladakh is a remote and beautiful part of India's Himalayan region. It has high snow-capped peaks and, where water flows from the snowfields and glaciers, lush valleys. Ladakh does not have pleasure gardens but its fields are often the size of tennis courts. The cultivated land is therefore more horticultural than agricultural. It has fruit trees, hedgerows and wonderfully flowery meadows. The fauna and flora is of great interest and the countryside is a delight for garden lovers.
