Cast stone may be compared to costume jewelery: it is not so fine as natural stone but many people cannot tell the difference. Cast stone is greatly superior to concrete. It is made by crushing and re-bonding the stone. Resin bonded stone shows every sign of being extremely durable, and may well be the modern equivalent of Coade Stone, a nineteenth century ceramic material which was used for a wide range of garden ornaments.
