Each heirloom-quality piece is made to order, takes several days to build, and bears the hammer marks of seasoned New England blacksmiths. Every aspect of production is monitored by the designer, Nan Quick, an enthusiastic gardener who has applied her training in architecture and the fine arts to the task of creating sturdy and beautiful furniture which settles gracefully into both traditional and contemporary gardens and homes.  All seating in the collection is comfortable without cushions.

After the metal has been shaped, welded and sanded, each chair, table, bench and planter is sand blasted. An undercoat of zinc is then applied. Color, from an array of 16 choices, is baked on with powder coating, which lends a satin feel to the iron, and provides a finish that is resistant to heat, corrosion, fading and abrasion. QDGdesign’s furniture can be left outdoors, year-round, without protection from rain or snow.
