Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Birthplace

The manse was built for Reverend Benjamin Mosby Smith in the mid nineteenth century and the Wilson family moved there in 1855. Thomas Woodrow Wilson was born in the manse in December 1856. The Garden Club of Virginia hired Charles Gillette in 1933 to design the boxwood garden and Ralph E Griswold added brick terraces in 1968. There is also a Woodrow Wilson Museum which opened in 1990.
