The urban plaza, designed by Townshend Landscape Architects, is interesting for being semi-enclosed and planted with forest trees. The glazed space which links two buildings is open at ground level, making it easily accessible, cool in summer and warm in winter. The building was designed designed by Foster and Partners for Marsh McLennan (insurance brokers).

Hi. I don't know if anyone will find this interesting but here I go. I am a security officer at Tower Place and stand outside, guarding the building many hours. The Atrium provides me no warmth in winter and does not stop wind blowing through. Birds die daily because they can't see the Atrium's glass paines and smack right in to them often not killing them instantly. The water features took approximately 5 years since 2003 to work and although they work now in 2008, they still leak through the plaza and into the coach park below. The trees under the atrium have always died due to poor irrigation, leaving a sticky residue behind and sticking to my shoes. On paper the Atrium looks nice but for people like us who spend every day of our lives working in the Atrium area, its a nightmare!
