Go to Tapeley Park
I have visitted a heck of a lot of gardens and tapeley is right up there. absolutley enchanting. shabby- yes, a bit smaller than most-yes but a delightful place. do not miss the walk out to the monument and labyrinth. we will most def be back

(5.0/5)Seriously overpriced at £5 a head. Borders were poor ... More planting needed... Staff quite rude. Head for RHS Rosemount instead!

(1.0/5)Tapley's shabbyness is what makes it so fantastic! is there not something magical about walking through an ancient woodland and stumbling accross a wonderful lake?
The vegtable garden is a permiculture garden and therefore vegtables grow in hamoney with the wild plants.
its a great place!

(5.0/5)There is something a little bit shabby about Tapeley or is that amateurish?
The lake is reached along a wooded walk. I presume it is maintained but it is like walking through a wood and finding a secret lake.
The vegetable garden looked horridly neglected. If this all seems horribly negative then I have to say I liked Tapeley. The areas around the house were lovely with lots of different planting and the house made a striking backdrop.
It could do with a serious injection of cash but it makes a change to the corporate National Trust look.
And the cafe serves lovely bacon!
