Great place, you can see all the jungle plants and animals without all the bugs and machete hacking. It is not in the best of condition but a must if you are in Panama city as it only costs $1 to enter open 9am – 4pm everyday. They have a harpy eagle and small jungle cats. There are many jungle parks and walks in Panama and they are all safe.

The guy who wrote that msg must hate this country. criminality is indeed increasing in Panama City, like in every other growing city in the planet, but it is still safe to be around, if you still have a concern about your security while in Panama hire the services of a local as a guide. No one will try to mess with you then... and more than likely it will be cheap... Contact ANAM or ANCON.

A botanic garden is the safest place to see Panama's plants. This is what I read about visiting the rainforest: "Kidnapping for ATM extortion is a big sport in Panama. They kidnap you and then take you to ATM machine daily. You withdraw cash up to your daily limit. When the money runs out they call your wife to fill up the bank account. If she delays, they send her pictures of you with some body parts already cut out. In the end they kill you and dump you in the jungle."
