    The Tropical Glasshouse is open from 10am - 4pm daily.

  • Parking

    Paid parking is available surrounding the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne.

  • Disabled Access

    Wheelchairs are available for use from the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne Visitor Centre. Contact the Visitor Centre on (03) 9252 2429 to reserve a wheelchair. All paths throughout the Gardens support wheelchair access.

    The perfect place for all things botanica, the award winning Gardens Shop offers a slice of the Botanic Gardens for you to take home. We have a wide range of botanically inspired gifts and products including botanic prints, books, jewelry and homewares. For that uniquely Australian gift, be sure to check out our range our handmade gifts, created by local artists and inspired by the Australian bush. We are also proud to offer an exclusive range of branded products, which include a collection of fine china tableware and an assortment of delicious handmade jams, chutneys, vinaigrettes and mustards. All proceeds from the shop sales assist Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne to advance the knowledge, conservation and enjoyment of plants. Open daily from 9.30am - 5.00pm.

    The Observatory Cafe The Observatory Café is open daily for breakfast, morning and afternoon teas and lunches. The Café is located in the Observatory precinct at the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne. OPEN: daily, 7:00am - 5.00pm return to top The Terrace The Terrace is located by the Ornamental Lake at the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne and is open daily for lunch, devonshire tea, coffee and cake. OPEN: daily, 9.00am - 5.00pm (October to May) 9:45am - 4:00pm (April to September)

    A wide variety of food is available at the Observatory Cafe and the Terrace within the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne.

  • Picnic Area

    You may picnic anywhere within the Gardens with the exception of areas marked private, garden beds and areas that have been reserved for private functions. Please note: that barbeques are NOT permitted within the Gardens.

  • Pets

    Dogs kept on short leads are permitted in the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne. Dogs must be kept on short leads and supervised at all times to ensure the safety of delicate plants, other dogs and visitors. Where dogs can’t go Dogs are not permitted in the Ian Potter Foundation Children’s Garden, Cafe, Visitor Centre or Gardens shop or any other building. Please clean up after your dog and ensure that dogs are not left unattended at any time. No other pets are allowed in the gardens.

  • Alcohol license

    Alcohol can be purchased at the Observatory Cafe and the Terrace Tearooms within the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne. Other catering options are also available within the Gardens.
