Rosemoor RHS Garden

The garden was made by Lady Anne Palmer and a master plan was produced by Elizabeth Banks Associates Landscape Architects, in 1990. Lady Palmer (who was related to Horace Walpole) described the garden ‘dull and labour intensive, typically Victorian with a great use of annuals in beds around the house.’ When living in Spain she had become interested in gardening and formed a plant collection at Rosemoor. When the RHS took over the garden in 1988 they commissioned a new design which was a 'formal garden' with 'informal' in the beds. Lady Anne’s garden, also 'informal' was retained.
