Ramster was once my home; to be able to grow up there for the first 14 years of my life was such a wonderful gift, I will forever keep the beauty of the gardens in my mind as well as my heart and I hope to return there to see the gardens again some day.

We missed the azaleas and Rhodies, but the garden is still a wonderful place to visit in early June. Such gigantic trees! Well laid-out for all degrees of mobility and energy, and the tea-house is superb. What lucky children of the estate, to grow up with that as their playground!

Beautiful garden - only reason we give the 4 stars is that we took our grandson there for an Easter Egg hunt- , but when we set out after lunch half the hiding places were empty - a little disappointing - still had a good time, though .

We went for the embroidery exhibition but the gardens were magnificent, with almost everything in flower from bluebells to rhododendrons. Quite a surprise so early in the month. Unfortunately we saw the exhibition before lunch and were disappointed and hungry to find that they were no longer making sandwiches at 2.20pm. so be warned and have your lunch early.

If you want the feeling of safely walking alone in a beautiful woodland setting, this is for you. Huge trees of every type, avenues of flowering shrubs, singing birds and meandering footpaths among woodland plants. A wonderful experience and rare among other over-commercialised gardens. Highly recommended by a senior citizen.

A truly wonderful garden, particularly at bluebell time - there are just carpets of them!

Since writing a "review" of the gardens soon after we'd visited, I want to tell you that we have told so many people that they "must" visit Ramster that if everyone we've told acts on our recommendation.... well, just stand by for crowds! As I said before ... we'll be back! (If only equal numbers of people will buy my novel!)
