Reviews of Majorelle Garden

I´m torn between 5* and 1*: It´s wonderful, very colourful, carefully designed and maintained, an exquisite collection of plants esp. cactuses, a European painters phantasy, a really extraordinary place not to be missed.
On the other hand its a rather freaky, surrealistic, even detached place, its closest relation indeed may be to pop art painting.
It does not really seem to have much to do with garden culture or even Moroccan tradition, (ab?)using only its climate, plants and a few local features as decorative stuff.

The place is magical...if you go at the right time of day...and the right day. Serendipity
for me last week was to arrive in early morning (8:15) with hardly a soul in the garden. The sky was a magnificent blue, matching the Majorelle blue everywhere. The birds were fabulous, singing in complete contentment. The air was cool and the amaryllis blooming beautiful apricot. The colors of the hardscape are extraordinary in a striking combination of blues, greens, yellows, and terra cotta. It was so satisfying! P.S. Make sure you also visit the museum and boutique. A total delight.

Just returned from a trip to Morocco and when in Marrakesh visited the Majorelle Gardens - they are very beautiful. It is quiet there - not too many people - plenty of bird song and fountails playing. I would go back to Marrakesh just to visit them again - all in all a wonderful experience. My rating would certainly be 5/5.

I ejoyed the wonderful colors (especially the blue) but it was very crowded and it took me all my time there to get over the little brat who spat in my face on the way to the garden.
