  • Open House

When you enter the Pointe-Platon house, the woodworkings recreate the feelings of the 1920s. In the dining room, the exhibition Le couple Chartier de Lotbinière-Joly, premier villégiateur à la Pointe Platon (The Chartier de Lotbinière-Joly couple, first summer residents of Pointe-Platon) will acquaint you with the exceptional story of a family, closely associated with the destiny of this country since 1672. In the hall, in the library and in the office, the exhibition Henri-Gustave Joly de Lotbinière, premier ministre du Québec et père de l’arboriculture au pays (Henri-Gustave Joly de Lotbinière, prime minister of Québec and father of the arboriculture of the country) introduces Sir Henri-Gustave, politician of multiple talents and passions which have marked the history of the region, of the province and of the country. The exhibition Le grand salon : le cœur de la vie culturelle du Domaine (The drawing-room, heart of the cultural life of the manor) brings to life a room where members of the family and their guests met. Visitors will find decorations, paintings and furniture of that era reminiscent of life and times of the early 1920s. The Pointe-Platon house will present three new exhibitions this season. The first, named La passion des fils en héritage (The passion of bygone threads) will show lace and embroidery by the best artisans of Europe and Québec. This year, visitors will have the chance to discover amongst other things, magnificent dresses of the times, emphasizing the charms of femininity. The second, titled Une envolée vers la lumière (A flight towards light) shows magnificent paintings by the artist Marcel Lefebvre, which bring to mind the natural freedom of the snow geese and the countryside of our region. The third, Le souffle créateur d’un artiste: Parcours de Marcel Lefebvre (The creative breath of an artist, the career of Marcel Lefebvre) offers a retrospective of the imposing career of this multi-disciplinary artist, showing both the early enthusiasm and the later the mastery of his art.
