The Hortus botanicus in Leiden has several unique locations, each with its own atmosphere, which are very suitable for the organisation of exceptional private and business meetings. Grand Café Clusius You are welcome to enjoy a cup of coffee, high tea, tasty lunch or alcoholic beverage in the attractive Grand Café Clusius. Try the outdoor café in the Curators garden, which is open weather permitting. The café is an ideal location for private get-togethers and receptions. The Winter Garden The Winter Garden is an exceptional greenhouse. Amid subtropical plants you will experience a real ‘outdoor feeling’, even when the weather outside is beastly. The Garden Room The Garden Room is a multifunctional room suitable for gatherings, meetings or workshops. The room has a bright interior and is fitted with all modern conveniences. The Orangery The Orangery is a monumental building, designed by Daniël Marot. It was built between 1740 and 1744 and fully restored in 2004. From May to November the Orangery can be booked for summer get-togethers, festive diners or buffets. From November to April the Orangery houses the wintering subtropical plants. Weddings The Orangery is an official wedding location. From April to October the Orangery is available for wedding celebrations. Parking
The Hortus is just a 10 minute walk from Leiden Central Station. There are only few parking spaces in the direct vicinity of the museum. We therefore recommend car park Haagweg near the city centre which offers a free shuttle bus service to the centre of Leiden and Hortus. Disabled Access
Wheelchair accessibility The Hortus walks are accessible to people in wheelchairs, with the exception of the Victoria Green House and footbridge in the Winter Garden. Companions of wheel chair users can enter the Hortus for free. The toilet for disabled people is located in the Winter Garden.

Do you want to explore the Hortus under your own steam? Free booklets of the Crown Jewel Walk are available at the entrance. The booklets are available in English and German. Guided tours A guided tour gives your visit to the Hortus something extra. Expert guides inform you about the history of the Hortus, flowering plants, carnivorous and medicinal species and show you the most beautiful spots in the garden.
