Leaming's Run Gardens

  3.4/5 (5 ratings)

Gardenvisit Editorial

The gardens were named after a stream known in colonial times the stream as 'Uncle Aaron Leaming's Run'. They were designed by Jack and Emily Aprill after 1957. In the area around Thomas Leaming House they made an eccentric wetland and woodland garden with dramatic color themes and effects.

This place was an absolute joke. The gardens were ridiculously tiny. A complete waste of money. Not as advertised.

This is a great stop for locals and those visiting the shore. We thought the gardens were so beautiful that we decided to have some of our wedding pictures taken in the gardens...and those ended up being some of our favorites! We especially love the gazebo and bridge over the pond- It is a great area to sit, relax and take in the beauty.

The garden walk is beautiful. The place is very interesting and unlike any other public garden, very unique. These gardens are not a tourist trap and serious gardeners will enjoy the trip and are very likely to learn from the visit.
Please note; if you visit the gardens during time of extreme and extended hot weather the annual gardens may be stressed...

Will not be returning ever again. For $32, our family was treated to tiny annual gardens whose flowers were either dying or severely stunted. They did not seem well maintained at all. The gazebo and pond area was better but not spectacular. Everything advertised including the website was misleading. I was much more impressed with the landscaping at the Cape May Zoo that we visited immediately afterward. The Zoo was beautiful.

The colonial farm replica was the highlight of the gardens and the only reason I gave the stars I did.

All in all, I felt Leamings Run was a terrible waste of money and a tourist trap.

Simply lovely! We enjoyed our walk through Leaming's Run watching hummingbirds enjoy the beauties of the annual plants in and out of the shaded woodland! Very interesting garden area with varied crops growing among farm animals----children loved it! Walk was about one mile/one hour.....numerous water areas and views into and out of colorful areas.
