Henry James house and garden from1898-1916. The novellist was a keen gardener and garden visitor. His own garden has high walls and was once designed by Alfred Parsons. Later authors E. F. Benson and Rumer Godden also lived here. It has beds, borders, a rose garden and planting which has been undertaken since it was given to the National Trust in 1950.
