This genuine alpine garden was made at a time (1891) when making alpine gardens was popular in England - and many English visitors went to Switzerland at that time. The altitude is 1260 m. The Thomas family had a long history of distinguished botanists. As the map shows, one could easily argue that this is the world's most genuine 'Alpine' garden.
