Groups are welcome, but pre-booking for admission, guided tours and/or meals is advised.
The Kingsbrae Garden Café, Gift Shop & Art Gallery are in the 1910 Edward Maxwell manor house, original to the estate.
There is ample parking for all types of vehicles; dedicated motorcoach parking is provided, as well as several handicapped access spots.
Yes, all the buildings are accessible, but there are a few paths with steps or small bridges; there is always an alternate route. Paths are hard packed gravel [very small crushed stones] and there are a few inclines. We offer free guided tours in our golf carts for those with mobility issues and also have a single motorized cart that can be signed out and borrowed.
The Kingsbrae Garden Gift Shop carries many garden-related gifts, books, accessories, clothing, toys, jewellery and much more. The Art Gallery also has artwork for sale, for the most part. Occasionally an exhibit will be for display only.
The licensed Garden Café serves a light and wholesome menu, with everything made fresh on-site. There are 50 seats indoors and 30 on the terrace. We also do special menu meals for groups, either in the Café, or on the terrace or in the private back courtyard, and boxed lunches to go, if desired. The finest local ingredients are used: lobster, scallops, salmon, haddock, Wolfhead smoked salmon, garden-fresh vegetables and local apple cider. Ellen's desserts are always fresh and delectable.
Yes, we have numerous teas, both regular and herbal varieties. Our Afternoon Tea is popular: finger sandwiches [smoked salmon, egg and cucumber], home-made brownies, scones with cream and preserves, and, of course, one's choice of tea [or coffee].
While we do not have picnic facilities in the Garden, our parking lot is spacious and well landscaped. A little further from us, there are several picnic spots around St Andrews. Ask for a boxed lunch to go and enjoy the great views and vistas of our little seaside town.
We serve wine and beer -- Banrock Station wines from a conservation conscious winery, and NB PumpHouse ales are some of the finest to be found.
We have several weddings every year, some with everything from rehearsal to the last dance, and others come to the Garden for single componenets: photos, ceremony, reception, etc. We also are a great alternate venue for conventions or other groups in town, many of whom stay at the historic Fairmont Algonquin Hotel, just a couple of blocks from the Garden.
Every visitor to Kingsbrae Garden receives a complimentary interpretive map -- there are many kilometres of pathways and woodland trails throughout the Garden, and guests are welcome to come and go all day, enjoying every corner of our 27 acres.
Yes, the washrooms in the Visitors Centre and Café building have baby-changing stations.
