Go to Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden
I have visited gardens everywhere and this botanic garden is #3 on my list, with Kew #1 and #2 the Huntington. The landscape is dramatic, the plants are great: the river and beach enhance the plants. Great gingers. Do not go without bug repellant or you will be eaten alive. Very worth the visit.

(5.0/5)Do not support the Hawaii Tropical 'Botanical Garden' with your money. This garden is responsible for many invasive plant introductions to the Big Island. Miconia trees all along the paths help bring to your attention the lack of native preservation this private gardens has towards the landscape. I especially disliked the parrots being housed in mosquito infested cages! Very heart breaking.
The staff is very unhappy and do not ask for the kama`aina rate unless you look like a Hawai`ian.

(1.0/5)Absolutely awesome. Be sure to give yourself enough time to wander and enjoy the sights of flowers and ocean. We had only 1 1/2 hours and we could have spent more time there. I took some of my best flower photos there. It is a don't miss place if you enjoy gardens or beautiful flowers!! Our trip was in May 2008. I was staying in Kona for my neice's wedding. Great trip and this garden visit was one of the highlights.
