The oldest botanic garden in Texas enjoys dappled shade and vibrant color. The Lower Rose Garden was established in 1934 as a CPW project during the Great Depression. The Garden is now 109 acres and contains 23 specialty gardens, including a Rose Garden and a Japanese Garden designed by Kingsley Wu, with a tea house and pavilion.

    Even though we visited the garden during the hot summer, it was still a very pretty walk and we enjoyed particularly the Japanese garden.
    We'll be back next spring for sure, if not earlier for the rose garden and all the other gardens...
