Go to Docton Mill and Garden
Without doubt one of the best cream teas in Devon, no wonder it won an award. Docton Mill gardens are beautiful - and the owners incredibly enthusiastic - and the food in the tea room is absolutely perfect. Enormous home made scones, slightly crumbly, delicously flavoured and a huge pot of local cream and homemade jam. Such a lovely thing to do in a wonderful setting. Our third time there and we will be back!

(5.0/5)If you are tempted to visit these gardens do think carefully before wasting your money. The gardens may have been award winning some years ago but now are run by a sort of Basil Fawlty type chap who would benefit from attending a course in customer service and manners. He would giive one foot in the grave a run for their money. The gardens are okay, ish, and the tea rooms are run okay. Go to Rosemoor instead.

(1.0/5)This garden is absolutely glorious ... a little bit of heaven in Devon! As you approach from the main road, you get wonderful views of Lundy Island out in the Bristol channel.
Arrive at Docton and you'll be amazed. Nine acres of water and wonders. Well worth going out of your way to see (and the food is wonderful too).
The present owners, who've been here 10 years, are turning this into a really exceptional garden.
