The Deering Estate overlooks Biscayne Bay. The estate was home to Charles Deering, son of the founder of the Deering Harvester Company and brother of James Deering who built Vizcaya. There are a number of ecologically important habitats within the 444 acres of the estate including coastal tropical hardward rockland hammocks, salt marshes, mangrove forests and pine rockland habitat.
