This is all from our visit in 2007. The castello is nice and certainly worth seeing, but could really stand a good cleaning and dusting. The duke of Aglie is mentioned in Casanova's "History of My Life", so it's doubtless a historic site. Tours are in Italian only so if you don't understand Italian, you're out of luck - you're given a single sheet of paper describes the highlights in English. The extra tour through the upper passage to the church across the piazza is interesting, but not particularly noteworthy - and probably not worth the extra 3E because when we were there, we couldn't look into the church to see what the dukes of Aglie could see.
The gardens are rather rustic and you have to pay extra to walk through them - be sure you pay BEFORE walking down to the gate, otherwise you'll find yourself walking back to the ticket office.
For an excellent meal, eat at the first Albergo/bar/ristorante on the right just after you enter the village. We've eaten there twice (2002 and 2007) and each meal has been wonderful.
