Achabal

The garden was made on the site of a vigorous spring which enters the garden as a waterfall. The design of the garden is attributed to Nur Jahan, Jahangir's wife.Susan Jellicoe wrote that: 'At Achbal, the water gushes out of the hillside with great vigour all the year round, feeding a tremendous waterfall, the highlight of the garden, that crashes down between two small pavilions into a large basin'. One can imagine that this was a great place to rest after travelling in an elephant train from the hot plains of India.
