I attended a writer's conference for four days held inside the Abbaye de Royaumont and had the pleasure of staying in the room that St. Louis previously occupied. His prescence could be felt throughout the room and was quite palatable.

The room looked out upon a stone circle and tower that reminded me of ones I had seen throughout Ireland.

The grounds were beautiful, the acoustics amazing in the building and the swans floating in the nearby stream so serene that it took my breath away.

I felt the Abbaye was one of the most extraordinary vistas that I have had the pleasure to gaze upon, and I long for the day I can return.

A lovely tranquil and peaceful place. Not lots to see but the cloistered gardens are.. pleasant albeit a tad unkempt. The new herb gardens south of the abbey are intriguing, especially the live woven Salix fence.
This place exudes calm and peacefulness.
